In May, we had the privilege of hosting a special boutique event with leading designers Suneet Varma, Tarun Tahiliani and Judith Leiber Couture. We took over the beautiful Penthouse of the May Fair Hotel to create an exclusive retail experience for our clients. It was a tremendous success and here is an inside video of the event.
Launched in 1993, Nikki Tibbles Wild at Heart has been creating exceptional floral displays for events and weddings across London and the UK, drawing inspirations from a range of sources, Nikki Tibbles is famed for creativity and quality, bringing aesthetic beauty to the forefront, not to mention artistic innovation.
For Think Shaadi Boutique, which took place at the chic May Fair hotel and featured new collections by legendary Indian fashion designers Suneet Varma and Tarun Tahiliani, as well as accessories supremo Judith Leiber. The event was set beautifully by Nikki Tibbles, who created several eye-catching bespoke arrangements, of pink and purple hydrangea, pink piano and spray roses, purple and blue delphinium, guelder rose and clematis and placed them into golden brass urns and bronze fish bowls which were placed around the room to complement the space in a fun and uplifting way.
On the inspiration for the arrangements, Nikki Tibbles says – “For the flowers, we took inspiration from the vibrant fabric colours used in the stunning bridal collections at the showcase.” The designs were a vibrant and exotic mix of colours and brought a great joie de vivre to the event.
Nikki Tibbles went on to say – “We put together a sumptuous mix of bright and bold seasonal flowers to accentuate the intricately beaded dresses and floral paisley patterns, and of course the exclusive Judith Leiber rose clutch which we absolutely loved.”
The bespoke floral arrangements included pink and purple hydrangea, pink piano roses, spray roses and guelder roses, purple and blue delphinium, and clematis. They were displayed in golden brass urns and bronze fish bowls which were placed around the room to complement the space in a fun and uplifting way.
These outstanding arrangements, with their hypnotic colours and perfect form delighted guests and designers alike.
It’s often the case that those who create an event or make that event just so, get overlooked. Not in this case, for Think Shaadi Boutique presents Suneet Varma, Tarun Tahiliani and Judith Leiber, it was party planners Admirable Crichton and Tamarind Collection, who both teamed up in a joint venture, that made our event glisten.
The team at Admirable Crichton conceptualised the event magnificently. Spawning from a simple idea, to produce classically tailored parties that capture moments of magic, Admirable Crichton have made a name for themselves as the creators of luxuriously executed and finely honed events. They have caught the eye of HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, and now hold a Royal Warrant.
From weddings to birthday parties to fashion events, Admirable Crichton work with a firm set of values, which are making sure each event is tailored to the customers requirements. Melding together age old principles with contemporary flare, in their own words – “With impeccable attention to detail, we oversee every aspect from the napkins and table setting to planning your honeymoon itinerary, design, decoration and entertainment, we have an enviable address book of the best suppliers and subcontractors in the world.”
The crux of Admirable Crichton’s success is their devotion to heritage, cherry picking the best of what has gone before and reworking it for the modern era. Covering everything from venues to catering, they are truly a Renaissance company.
Tamarind Collection, the caterers extraordinaire, remain a steadfast favourite of anyone wishing to experience mouthwatering cuisine, that is magnificently presented. A versatile brand, Tamarind Collection operate four restaurants in London and L.A, with a rich history, beginning in 1995, and a versatile range of menus, the group have notched up some amazing achievements in 20 years.
Taking traditional Indian cuisine and injecting a fresh and bountiful zeal into it, Tamarind Collection offer a variety of classic staples such as Zaffrani Macchi, consisting of king fish chunks marinated with ginger, fresh mint, lime-leaf, green chilli and saffron, and Hyderabadi Shanks, slow-cooked lamb shanks with browned onions, ginger, garlic, yoghurt and ground spices. Their meals are a true feast.
Tamarind Collection have been courted by some of the UK’s biggest and most loved organisations, including Lords Cricket Ground, English Heritage and the Science Museum. Their London restaurant Tamarind of London was awarded ‘Best Indian Cuisine’ at the 2012 Golden Foodie Awards. They have said that “over the years the Tamarind Collection’s fundamental philosophy has remained unchanged; to prepare exquisite food and that is coupled with service that is approachable and unobtrusive in stylish environments.”
Admirable Crichton and Tamarind Collection are individual forces of creative brilliance, but their collaboration for Think Shaadi boutique brought these forces together beautifully. With the creation of a magical environment that showcased the designs in a manner befitting them.

In recent years the city of London has fast become the European hub for Indian and Pakistani fashion. With stores dedicated to high-end South Asian designers, numerous trunk shows and small scale events staged. Interest from the fashion press has intensified, and we are very pleased to announce that this spring sees three spectacular events happening in the city.
Faisana Fashion Weekend at the Mayfair Hotel: May 2nd – 3rd
The fashion extravaganza kicks off with Faisana Fashion Weekend, at London’s gorgeous May Fair Hotel. The event marks a first for South Asian design in the UK, organised by two purveyors of luxury fashion Radhika Hassan and Aamna & Aisha. The weekend will showcase three Pakistani and three Indian designers, each at the top of their game.
The designers include Umar Sayeed, a man who has systematically revolutionised Pakistani fashion, with his glamorous collections. Sayeed is a genius of understated beauty, working on men’s, women’s and bridal wear. Anita Dongre is the crown princess of Indian fashion, with a career that spans 20 years; she creates designs that carefully mix traditional Indian techniques with sweet contemporary shapes. Other designers include Rina Dhaka who incorporates unique bohemian flavours into her designs, Bhairavi Jaikishan who gives her creations the explorer treatment, incorporating a range of both Eastern and Western sensibilities, Nida Azwer whose influences reach far back in to the depths of South Asian history and finally Sania Maskatiya, who works along the lines of elegance and comfort respectively.
Suneet Varma Trunk Show, Nobu London: May 8th – 9th
We don’t need to tell you that Suneet Varma is a man whose designs have brought Indian fashion to global attention. For over 25 years he has mastered the art of designing women’s and bridal wear that epitomises luxurious elegance, incorporating a smorgasbord of varied cultural and historical influences.
Varma will be displaying some of his most recent designs, along with collections from sought after luxury handbag designer Judith Leiber and Mumbai based fine-jewellery designer Kajal Assomull. It will be an intimate affair taking place at London’s celebrated Japanese restaurant Nobu in the heart of West London.
Tarun Tahiliani Trunk Show, Aashni & Co: May 17th – 18th
The final event this month sees Tarun Tahiliani host a trunk show at Aashni & Co, Notting Hill’s hub for designer Indian fashion. Tahiliani is a true renaissance man, famed for his fusion of traditional Indian textiles and European silhouettes; he has also worked his magic over interior design and wedding events.
His collection is an ethereal cornucopia, fashioned from the finest silks, lace and summer cottons, structured by age old Brahmanical patterns, accentuating that restrained regal tone which Tahiliani has become so loved for. Layers are flamboyant and create an intense poetical feel.
We hope events like these become ever more frequent and London’s taste for South Asian fashion continues to rise.
